How many months before your wedding should you get your bridesmaid dresses? ›

Around six months before the big day is a sweet spot for ordering the dresses. Some designer dresses and other bridesmaid's dresses from bridal boutiques may take two or three months to get your dresses in stock. Plus, you need to allow two months for alterations.

You can easily dress down a lace bridesmaid dress by pairing it with boots and a jean jacket. A leather jacket works too. Most wedding gowns are produced in 6-8 months, but we always allot time for alterations (2-3 months) and shipping (2-6 weeks). We understand that not everyone has a long engagement timeline, so we ask the more time you can give us the better!

The best time to decide on the gown is at minimum eight months out. That way you have time for shipping and alterations. If you don't have all that time and you've started a little late, that's okay. Just get to a salon quickly and talk to your consultant about your options.

How Soon is Too Soon? If you have a long engagement period, it's a good idea to wait until 8-12 months before the wedding. Unfortunately, how close you are to certain people can change.
