These banana frozen yoghurt bites are a really easy recipe for kids and make a great healthy dessert, snack or fun breakfast idea!

Following on fromthe hugely popular frozen fruity yoghurt bites recipefrom my easy recipes for kids series, today I'm sharing a new version of the recipe with a yummy banana twist - frozen banana yoghurt bites.

This version of the recipe has been a massive hit with Small Child - it's a little sweeter than the original, with one of his favourite fruits, and it's still extremely simple to make with justthree healthy ingredients - check out my video to see just how easy it is!

As with the original recipe, I used reusable silicone muffin cupsfor this project as they are sturdy and eco friendly, but you could also use paper cupcake cases if you have some you’d like to use up.

Why notexperiment with different shaped silicone cups if you have them – flowers shapes for spring, star shapes for Christmas or heart shapes for Valentines daywould work nicely.

Banana Frozen Yoghurt Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 large ripe banana
  • 150g Yoghurt of your choice (we used natural yoghurt)
  • Handful of dried banana chips (optional)

Method

Layout approximately 12cupcake cases or silicone muffin cups on a small baking sheet or tray (this will need to fit in your freezer, so it may be worth checking it for size before you start).

Peel the banana and pop itonto a plate. Mash up with a fork until most of the lumps have gone. Tip: Young children might find this step easier to do with a potato masher if you have one.

Tip the mashed banana into a bowl and dollop in the yoghurt. Whisk together until well combined.

Using a spoon, dollop some yoghurt and banana mixtureinto the bottom of each cake case until all the yoghurt has gone.

Top with the banana chips if wanted. We topped half of ours with whole ones and half with broken pieces, I think both ways looked great!

Place thecups (still on thebaking tray) into the freezer and leave to freeze for a couple of hours until set solid.

Once frozen through, remove from the cases and serve (or bag up and pop straight back in the freezer to eat later).

These are great to munch on straight out of the freezeras a healthy snack or dessert,or for a fun breakfast ideayou could throw afew into a bowl of granolaor cereal, yum!

You could even pack these in a lunch box – the yoghurt will melt enough to eat with a spoonby lunch time butit will stillbe lovely and cool and make a tastyand healthydessert. Justbesureto pack themin a leak-proof tub or compartmented lunch box like the Yumbox.
