An underwhelming experience that is still unfinished.

Don't listen to these tards. They live a sad life where they got filtered by an easy game.
In reality the game is excellent. It expands on the features of Warband and adds new stuff. The late game can be tedious since there is an inherent lack of diplomatic options but that's nothing new and can be fixed with mods. The factions are great, the units are great, the battles are superb. The economy feature is engaging and smithing adds an immersive feature that can be fun and lucrative. Having your own family and clan is a massive upgrade and allows you to essentially field over 1000 troops without having to personally own them or tuck them away in garrisons.
Overall an 8/10 with the two missing points invalidated with mods.

I bought the game on release, have played it for hundreds of hours, both modded and vanilla.

Bannerlord on launch barely worked and was missing so many features. Bannerlord today is better after all the updates but its still missing features that were promised or were in Warband. Talesworlds putting the game out of WA in the state claiming it was finished it's in was a redflag telling me to never support this company again.

Anyone who actually followed the dev hype train throughout all these years agrees with my stance. Reminder that they changed the engine like 3 times or some sh*t during development, Bannerlord is just a classic case of an AA game studio going way over their heads.

I remember that the perks still didn't work after 10 years of development.

Yeah, a mod had to fix it. I think some perks still don't work right even to this day.

    Good deal.
    8/10 vanilla
9/10 with mods (maybe 10, it can be your epiphany)
Unless you're a nostalgiaBlack person you won't miss Warband. Bannerlord is a significant improvement on the formula.
The battles are a lot easier to navigate strategically. The overworld is more engaging. The multiplayer is pretty fun (although I don't know if it's played as much as when it launched).
With mods it's a killer game, makes you feel rushes of pleasure (dismemberment, bullet time, admin mods, UI mods, etc).

the game is good at the start, the combat is pretty fun but just like in warband as soon as you begin having an army and capture your first city the novelty wears off quickly, the AI is also the same, there's barely any new mechanics and the current mods are sh*t. don't buy this for more than 10 bucks

It's a bit easier than Warband.
Twohanders from horseback are actually viable.
Horses now have armor as a seperate item. You could take the fastest horse and give it the heaviest armor.
The weapon selection is a lot lamer.
There are furry hats and cloaks.

A game that never really got finished and never will. It replaced Warband gameplay-wise but ended up not doing enough to really justify 10 years of siphoning turkroach tax money.

Last time I played it I liked it. The early and middle games are great. The end game becomes a slog with you never really able to destroy factions so they just keep coming back.sk2n

It's fun and graphically satisfying. Overworld campaign mechanics are ok, nowhere near perfect, there aren't mods that can improve it either. The actual large scale battles are probably the highlight of the game.
Play it with the mod that lets you rename/remodel nobility so when they have kids they don't look moronic on accident, it's a lot more fun at least for me to make interesting looking nobles and the character creator is very decent. Look on Nexus, find some neat mods, and STICK TO a game version so you can revisit the build save a year later.
Its been a while since I played but I doubt they've made any changes.

Ah yeah late game is broken, after you own roughly half the map you have to wait for income, buy a noble, and let them autobattle over and over. No other strategy will affect the game and it's incredibly one-dimensional

The fact that this game is rarely talked about after being hyped for years of NEVER EVER and WHEN BUTTERLORD RELEASES I WILL PLAY NOTHING ELSE should be tell you all you need to know. It was a wetfart unable to live up to the expectations and surpass wb

In their defense, Warband is one of the best games of all time and trying to surpass or even equal it it was statistically bound to fail. Same thing happens with movies, music, etc. Sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle and are unable to figure out how to do it again.

All they had to do was deliver what was promised. Instead they felt to need to scrap everything multiple times and even have the audacity to make their own engine like 2 years before release.

    1) go to city A
    2) you hear a rumor that you can sell a product for a better price at city B
    3) buy product
    4) go to city B and hopefully make a profit
    5) repeat steps 1-4 six gorillion times until you have enough money
    6) now go to nearest city buy a ton of different types of food to level your stewardship
    7) now go to nearest city/village and recruit people
    8) attack every bandit party you find
    9) join every tournament you find
    10) repeat steps 6-9 six gorillion times until you have the clan level required to join a kingdom
    11) join a kingdom preferably one that is doing well
    12) congratulations you are now in the endgame. all you do from here on is attack cities and castles and lose them a few minutes later because friendly AI armies are moronic, the faction leader gives them away to himself or the enemy AI just has way too many parties for you and your companions to fight

    TL;DR
    refund

I give a little bit of leeway for that because giving fiefs unmodded is stupid and broken. good luck trying to consolidate your lands when the person you're trying to give that fief to just isn't one of the three available options for God knows why.

Combat improvements make it impossible to go back to Warband but it still feels like a janky beta despite a decade of development. The game didn't even have a way for factions to be destroyed unless you execute everyone until the recent series of updates.
    >politics is busted and OP
    >trade, enterprises and caravans are awful
    >clans are a good idea but your children grow up so slowly you will conquer the map via warfare before any of them come of playable age
    >most people don't even want to lose their level 30+ dude anyway so aging seems fricked.
    >cavalry are FRICKING USELESS (horse archers not included)
    >archers even more overpowered than in Warband. There's actually no reason to run crossbows now because the arrows do the same damage
    >can't get big mods because of constant updates
    >handful of half-assed features like running a gang which is 100% micro and nets you an insultingly low amount of money

Aging and characters dying was always a stupid idea and the devs should have known better than anyone that it wouldn't work. It results in everybody having no personality, since everybody must be disposable (they can literally die in their first battle long before the player gets to them, for example). Lord personalities helped Warband a lot considering how barebones the story was.

Just a guess, but TaleWorlds probably laid off all of the actual workers (janissaries) upon release and kept their worthless nepotism hires, so we won't be getting any ACTUAL updates ever. Just minor changes that break mods.

yeah well, that's because they care. we are talking about a dev team that basically had to be threatened to have their guberment dollars taken away if they didn't do a full release from how long they were taking.

Anyone tried the adventurer mod for this? I attempted a one man mercenary run in the basegame but what little that is there really doesn't lend itself well to flying solo. There was also that other mod where you could play as a bandit being able to kidnap and torture the nobility if you wanted to do some real cloak and dagger sh*t.
